The 2014 Chapelle de Potensac was a querulous wine when I originally tasted it from barrel. Now in bottle, I still find the aromatics a little ephemeral, as if a light breeze could blow it away. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannin, simple red berry fruit, balanced but missing some weight and substance on the finish, even for a Deuxième Vin. Drink soon.

The 2014 Chapelle de Potensac is an attractive, mid-weight wine best suited to near and medium-term drinking. Dark red cherry, plum, spice, menthol and hard candy add nuance on the expressive, salivating finish. This is very pretty, if a bit compact. The blend is 56% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 13% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot.
70% Merlot, 27% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc. Only 30 hl/ha because of hail. Bright red-cherry aromas but pretty light and evanescent. A little austere on the end. (JR)
