2014 Morey St Denis Clos des Ormes

(a 50/50 blend of premier cru and village vines): Good dark red. Expressive aromas of redcurrant, roast coffee, game and iron. Musky and lightly saline in the mouth, with currant, game and torrefaction flavors accented by pepper and herbs. Comes off as a bit peppery and edgy following the village wines from Vosne and Nuits, finishing with dusty tannins and a leathery nuance. Right now the wine's fruit is in the deep background.
