Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2026-2040, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

Coming from the gravelly soils on the plain not far from Monbousquet, the 2023 Château Haut-Brisson offers ripe black cherries, mulberries, new leather, graphite, and chalky minerality on the nose. Based on 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc and aged 12 months in 35% new French oak with the balance in one- and two-year-old barrels, it's medium-bodied and has a fresh, focused, elegant mouthfeel, nicely integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's beautifully done and will have 15 years or more of prime drinking. There are roughly 3,300 cases produced. Drink 2026-2040.

Punteggio 87/100 · Da bere 2026-2033, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2026

The 2023 Haut-Brisson is laced with dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender and cloves. The 2023 is dense and quite powerful, but it’s hard to look past its incisive vegetal notes. Tasted two times.

The 2023 Haut Brisson has a well-defined nose that appears to have manifested more complexity since its showing from barrel. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid black fruit, a little oaky at the moment, but that will be assimilated with time. Just a bit short on the finish, but otherwise, a fine Saint-Émilion.
