Formerly Ch Bélair. Fine and fresh, vibrant. Real spine. Stolid. Silky. Just a bit green on the end. I believe this was made a good five years before the Moueixes took over the château next to Ausone previously known as Bélair. (JR)
Light to mid ruby with definite signs of ageing on the rim. Light nose with lots of evolution. Warm and round on the nose and with marked acidity without much intensity. Then on the palate some pronounced ripeness, almost a salty 'bloody' ripeness character. Furry finish. The fruit is not the freshest and a little tannin lingers. This is definitely ancient rather than modern idiom. (JR)
Mid crimson. Full and more open, “bloomy” than most. Delicate. Much more lightweight than most – as though it will be drinkable sooner – though I bet it will last as long. Slightly furry tannins, but overall clear and fresh. Distinctive and determinedly traditional. (JR)
