Punteggio 89/100 · Da bere 2026-2035, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

Always a terrific Fronsac, the 2023 Château La Rousselle has lively, mineral-laced red fruits, medium body, a pure, supple, elegant mouthfeel, and classic limestone-influenced aromatics of flowers, spice, and chalk. Based on 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc and aged 16 months in 40% new French oak with 40% in one-year-old barrels and 20% in foudre, drink this charming effort over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2035.

The 2023 La Rousselle is gorgeous. Elegant, aromatic and gracious, La Rousselle captures all the best the vintage has to offer. Clean mineral notes drive through a core of bright red-toned fruit, chalk and white pepper. This sculpted, vibrant Fronsac is lights-out.

The 2023 La Rousselle is packed with blackberry, dried herbs, blood orange, mint, chocolate and tobacco. This dense, potent Fronsac is quite the extrovert. The blend of rich Merlot fruit with savory/floral Franc character makes for a dynamic and promising wine. Tasted two times.

Crafted from vines planted on south-facing clay and calcareous soils, the 2023 La Rousselle is showing today with aromas of flowers, dark wild berries, violet and menthol. Medium-bodied, juicy and round, it’s supple and enrobing with fresh mid-palate and powdery tannins that conclude in a long, ethereal finish. It's a blend of 60% Merlot and 40% Cabernet Franc.
