FINE+RARE, Apr 2024

This is the first vintage of Tronquoy’s white wine to be released en primeur. It’s pithy, green and waxy on the nose, with bright pear, white florals and honey. It’s elegant with a mineral stony undertone, yet a real richness to the fruit on the mid-palate that follows through to the long, refreshing finish. Blend: 51% Semillon, 49% Sauvignon Gris

Based on almost equal parts Sémillon and Sauvignon Gris and aged eight months in barrels with 15% new oak, the 2023 Chateau Tronquoy Blanc has a very unique, singular style. Ripe citrus, hints of pear fruits, crushed stone, exotic flowers, and savory herb notes all emerge from the aromatics. It's rich on the palate, with a medium-bodied, rounded texture, beautiful density and depth, and integrated acidity. This classy, serious white will absolutely shine on the dinner table and should drink well over the coming decade or so. I wouldn't be surprised to see it keep even longer, yet it's brilliant today. Drink 2024-2034.

The 2023 Blanc is a powerful, complex wine. Tangerine peel, chamomile, dried flowers, mint and passion fruit are all dialed up. It's a white wine made in a terroir that is probably best suited for red wine, and that comes through in its textual richness and overall presence.

The 2023 Tronquoy Blanc, a roughly equal blend of Sauvignon Gris and Sémillon, has quite a lucid, green-tinted color. It has a pretty bouquet with white peach, golden raisin and light pear scents that blossom in the glass, though never attain what I regard as complexity. The palate is well balanced with a fresh entry, a waxy texture, with lime and orange zest (as noted out of barrel). It never quite kicks on toward the finish but remains a delicious white Saint-Estèphe to drink over the next decade.
