Full bottle 1,309 g. A lovely, traditional Rioja with a little furl of flowers on the nose, dense black fruit, compact tannins and earthy cigar spices. The acidity is high, tight as watch spring, ticking freshness from start to the gorgeous sour-cherry and rusty-iron finish. (TC)

The 2018 V Reserva Faustino continues a classical style. This aged for 24 months in new American oak barrels. Aromas of vanilla, caramel and oak lead on the nose, with red fruit and a touch of herbs in the background. On the palate, the variety's character shines through, supported by plush, well-managed tannins and a fine-grained, enveloping texture. The 2018 is a well-executed, traditional Rioja.
