Note di degustazione
A brilliant Saint-Emilion from a great terroir situated between Pavie and Canon-la-Gaffelière, the 2023 Château Saint Georges (Côte Pavie) sports an opaque deep ruby hue as well as ripe black cherries, plums, leafy tobacco, graphite, and crushed stone. Based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc and aged 16 months in 30% new French oak with the balance in one and two-year-old barrels, it's rich and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a great mid-palate and fine tannins. I love seeing this château performing at this level, which given the terroir, should be no surprise. Drink 2027-2045.

A precise and focused red with aromas of blackberries, blueberries, limestone and a hint of graphite. Medium-bodied with firm and chewy tannins. It shows dark earth and chalk, with a hint of salt at the end. Drink in three or four years.
The 2023 Château Saint Georges (Côte Pavie) comes from the clay and limestone hillside just outside of the village (not far from Chateau Pavie) and is based on 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. Spicy black cherries, red plums, leafy herbs, graphite, and a hint of chocolate all emerge on the nose, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a plush, layered mouthfeel, beautiful tannins, and a great finish. It's very much in the style of the vintage with its forward, charming style, but this is beautiful stuff.
Savory black cherries, herbs, and licorice with a floral edge in the nose deftly moves to a vibrant, medium-bodied, sweet, chewy, round center of sweet, red berries, chocolate, and espresso. The wine offers an open, forward approach. The wine blends 80% Merlot, with 20% Cabernet Franc.
