Juicy black cherries, spice, graphite, dried herbs, and leather all define the 2023 Château Moulin Haut-Laroque, a blend of 70% Merlot, 15% Cabernet Franc, 10% Malbec, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged in 40% new oak with the balance in second-fill wooden casks. Medium-bodied on the palate, it's nicely balanced, with spicy complexity and a good finish. Drink this solid Fronsac over the coming decade. Drink 2026-2036.

The 2023 Moulin Haut-Laroque is a very pretty, delicate second wine to drink now and over the next few years. Floral, savory and earthy notes lend complexity throughout.
The 2023 Moulin Haut-Laroque has a simple nose that just misses a bit of fruit intensity, a bit comme ci, comme ca as a result. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins but then, fair dues, it does build to a nicely balanced, lightly spiced finish that exerts sufficient grip. It is better than its showing from barrel, though not a long-term prospect.
A touch of white pepper to the fresh red cherries and plums. Vibrant, linear and textural, with a medium body and intense, juicy red fruit. Medium-long finish. Already delicious, but can hold.
