Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2026-2033, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

A vibrant, pure white that's well worth your time, the 2023 Château Les Charmes-Godard Blanc is based on 73% Sémillon, 18% Sauvignon Blanc, and 9% Sauvignon Gris and was brought up seven months on the lees in 500-liter barrels with 15% new French oak. Ripe melon, minty herbs, and crushed stone all emerge from the bouquet, and it's medium-bodied, round, and supple on the palate, with a beautiful texture and terrific length. This is the third year of organic conversion for this estate, and this wine is capable of keeping for a solid decade. There are roughly 1,250 cases produced. Drink 2026-2033.

The 2023 Château Les Charmes-Godard Blanc is more exotic, with honeyed peach and orange blossom notes in a medium-bodied, beautifully fresh, focused style that brings both richness and freshness. Readers who haven't tried a dry white from Bordeaux before should snatch up bottles. It should have 7-8 years, if not more, of prime drinking.

White peach, yellow tropical fruit, honeysuckle, mango, and white flowers, create the nose. The palate is even better with its opulent, creamy-textured display of white, and yellow fruits, with a touch of honey on the backend. The wine blends 73% Semillon 18% Sauvignon Blanc and 9% Sauvignon Gris.

The 2023 Les Charmes-Godard Blanc, already bottled, waltzes out with expressive notes of fresh Bosc pears, lemongrass, and lime leaves plus wafts of coriander seed and chalk dust. The medium-bodied palate is intense and racy, with a satiny texture and fantastic length. This should age nicely! The blend is 73% Semillon, 18% Sauvignon Blanc, and 9% Sauvignon Gris.

Nicolas Thienpont purchased this estate in the Côte des Francs in 1988. Largely producing white wine, there is a high percentage of Semillon (60%) with 25% Sauvignon Gris and 15% Sauvignon Blanc. Fermented in 500-litre oak and spending six months on lees, this is an impressive, textured white wine.
