Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2026-2037, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

A charming, midweight yet outstanding wine, the 2023 Château La Tour De Mons offers darker berries, cassis, spice, background oak, and graphite on the nose. Based on 57% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot and aged 12 months in 20% new French oak, it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a clean, balanced mouthfeel and real elegance. Drink this lovely Margaux over the coming 10-12 years. Drink 2026-2037.

The 2023 Tour de Mons is packed with dark-toned fruit, new leather, gravel, incense, licorice, chocolate, dried herbs and tobacco. Plush and layered, with gorgeous persistence, Tour de Mons packs a lot of intensity into its mid-weight frame. This is impeccably done.

The 2023 La Tour de Mons has a well-defined bouquet with blackberry, raspberry and light sandalwood scents that unfold on the nose. The palate is medium-bodied with chewy tannins. A bit rustic and perhaps just needing a bit more finesse on the finish, I would afford this a couple of years in bottle.

An absolute classic Margaux, the 2023 Château La Tour De Mons offers up a complex bouquet of red fruits, sandalwood, Asian spice, leather, and dried flowers. It's medium-bodied and has a layered, elegant mouthfeel, silky tannins, and a great finish. I think it's going to drink well right out of the gate yet see no reason it shouldn't have two decades of overall longevity.
