All Merlot, the 2023 Château La Croix Saint Georges offers up a medium-bodied, nicely concentrated, balanced profile revealing both plum and darker cherry fruits, some classic Merlot chocolate and savory herb nuances, ripe tannins, and outstanding length. It's a satisfying, thoroughly enjoyable, if not outstanding, Pomerol that will drink well with just short-term cellaring.

Flowers, chocolate covered cherries, licorice, and a leaf, or two of mint create the aromatic profile. The medium-bodied palate is even better with its crisp, soft, lush, silky, vibrant, polished, fresh character. The fruits are sweet, ripe, and juicy. There is purity matched with elegance. The finish is long, and lingering with its chocolate-coated black, and red fruits, with just a hint of smoke, and espresso to add another accent. The wine is produced from 100% Merlot. 14.61 ABV, 3.67 pH. This is clearly the start of another level for La Croix St. Georges. When bottled, it is possible the score could rise even further.
The 2023 La Croix St. Georges is deep garnet-purple in color. It opens with notes of baked blackberries and wild strawberries leading to nuances of dried Provence herbs, forest floor, and graphite. The medium-bodied palate has appealing herbal accents lifting the red and black berry flavors, finishing on a chewy note.
The plum, chocolate and hazelnut character delivers here. Medium to full body, chewy tannins and a long, polished finish. Crunchy.
