The 2023 La Croix du Casse is bright, fruity and easy to drink. The riper side of the vintage comes through nicely in this soft, open-knit Pomerol. Hints of cedar, sweet pipe tobacco and mint add layers of aromatic presence.

The 2023 La Croix du Casse has a light black cherry and strawberry-scented bouquet, simple but clean. The palate is quite sharp on the entry, a little pinched in style with an attenuated finish that just needs more flesh around the tannins. A bit dry.
Good depth of black plums, black cherries, graphite and violets. Ripe and plush, with medium to full body and a flavorful, rich center palate. Tannins are tight-grained and abundant. Nice opulence. A blend of 96% merlot and 4% cabernet franc. Drink or hold.
Plums, cocoa, herbs, and flowers form the perfume. On the palate, the wine is medium-bodied, fresh, juicy, fruity, soft-textured, forward, upbeat, and already charming in your glass, with its minty, plummy, and cocoa endnote. The wine blends 96% Merlot, with 4% Cabernet Franc. 14.5% ABV.
