The 2023 Ferran has a bright, if rustic, nose with blackcurrant, raspberry and bell pepper scents. The palate is medium-bodied with powdery tannins, not a powerful Ferran, and it just feels a bit dry on the finish. Not bad, though this year I prefer the white.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Ferran Rouge leaps from the glass with spicy scents of cumin seed and Sichuan pepper followed by a core of black cherry preserves, dried sage, and juicy strawberries. The medium-bodied palate is plush and juicy, with plenty of bright berry flavors and freshness, finishing on a peppery note. The blend is 69% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 11% Petit Verdot.
I like the tension here, as well as the considerable structure. It’s bright, fresh and nicely filled with fruit. Medium-bodied with a firm finish.
The 2023 Ferran is well-defined on the nose with raspberry and crushed strawberry fruit and light tobacco notes that filter through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with firm tannins that frame the lightly peppered red fruit, though it just misses a bit of persistence. That said, I would happily drink this over the next eight to ten years.
