Based on a blend of 75% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon aged 12 months in 30% new French oak (a mix of 300-liter and 225-liter barrels), the 2023 Château Faugères offers up a gorgeous nose of cassis, graphite, crushed stone, violets, and chocolate. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied and concentrated, with fine, polished tannins, terrific overall balance, and a great finish. I love it even today (and most 2023s are showing beautifully), yet this will have an easy 15-20 years of overall longevity. Drink 2026-2046.

The 2023 Faugères is a very classy, elegant wine, and one of the most refined vintages of Silvio Denz's Saint-Émilion that I can remember tasting. Subtle floral, spice and savory notes weave through a core of dark-fleshed fruit in this super-impressive 2023.
Pretty core of blackberries, blueberries, walnuts and hazelnuts. Medium to full body and velvety tannins. A blend of 70% merlot, 25% cabernet franc and 5% cabernet sauvignon.
