Punteggio 92/100 · Da bere 2028-2038, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2026

The 2023 Domaine de L'Eglise is powerful, dense and quite extroverted. Blackberry, gravel, incense, licorice and chocolate fill out the wine's broad, expansive frame. Readers should expect a big, virile wine in an especially ripe style. It's all there, though.

Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2027-2037, Neal Martin, Feb 2026

The 2023 Domaine de l'Église has a much better nose than the La Croix du Casse: more fruit for starters, black cherries and blueberry, nicely defined with a touch of incense. The palate is medium-bodied with quite firm tannins, but here matched by black fruit laced with tobacco and black pepper. A bit rough-hewn on the finish, but otherwise a decent, old-school Pomerol.

Soft, lush, polished, silky, and refined, this elegantly styled Pomerol focuses you on its chocolate-covered plums, black cherries, and licorice character with ease. The wine is medium-bodied, vibrant, and refined. It is perfectly balanced between its sweetness, lift, and ripe pit fruits that show on the mid-palate, and in the finish. The wine blends 98% Merlot with 2% Cabernet Franc. 14.8% ABV.

Deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 du Domaine de L'Eglise needs a swirl or two to unlock notes of juicy plums, wild blueberries, and black raspberries followed by hints of licorice, tar, and cracked black pepper. The medium to full-bodied palate delivers velvety tannins and impressive tension to counter the generous black fruit flavors, finishing long and savory. The blend of 98% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc comes from 50-year+ vines on the Pomerol plateau.
