Punteggio 90/100 · Da bere 2026-2046, Jeb Dunnuck, Mar 2026

A terrific, classically styled Médoc, the 2023 Clos Manou is based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Merlot, and 8% Petit Verdot, aged 17 months in 70% new oak, with the balance split between concrete eggs and terra cotta jars. Classic Bordeaux aromatics of darker berries, leafy herbs, saddle leather, and graphite define the nose, and it's medium-bodied on the palate, with a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. Drink this outstanding Médoc over the coming 15-20 years. Drink 2026-2046.

The 2023 Clos Manou is a racy, expressive Médoc. Dark-toned fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice and incense all build in the glass. Cabernet Sauvignon aromatics and tannins bring it all together on the persistent, resonant finale.

The 2023 Clos Manou has a very well-defined bouquet with brambly red fruit, blackberry, briar and light loamy aromas. The oak is beautifully integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with pliant tannins that disguise the weight and concentration. Bright red fruit, velvety-textured, with a pinch of black pepper and bay leaf on the finish, this is a lovely Clos Manou.

Lots of red plums, tobacco, cedarwood, and spicy notes emerge from the 2023 Clos Manou, a medium-bodied, round, nicely textured, elegant Médoc. I love its overall balance, and it's a charming effort with plenty to love.

Clos Manou

Clos Manou is one of Bordeaux’s most under-rated addresses. The tiny estate is in the northern reaches of the Médoc, but produces wine that puts some Classed Growths to shame.
