Note di degustazione
A year-in, year-out smoking wine, the 2023 Château Charmail sports a deep ruby/plum hue as well as a great, classic nose of ripe red and black fruits intermixed with smoked tobacco, chocolate, and loamy earth. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, nicely concentrated mouthfeel, sweet yet present tannins, and a great finish. Drink this gorgeous Haut-Médoc over the coming two decades. Drink 2026-2045.

The 2023 Charmail comes across as overripe and pruney. Disjointed contours don't help matters at all.
The 2023 Charmail has a simple nose with black plum, blackcurrant pastilles and light strawberry scents. It just misses a bit of bandwidth. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins, quite structured with a dry and slightly hard finish. It just needs more flesh.
Black currants, violets and graphite, with mocha and wood spices. The palate is medium-bodied and slightly lean, with a delicate thread of dark fruit and upfront tannins that lead into a cedary finish. Approachable now but better in 2028.
