Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2027-2037, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, Mar 2026

The 2023 Cap Saint-Georges has a lot to offer. Blackberry, cloves, new leather, incense and scorched earth are all dialed up in the glass. This fleshy red will drink well over the next five to seven years. There's plenty to admire in its generous personality.

Spearmint, tobacco, spice, red berries, and cigar wrappers create the character here. Soft, fresh, and fruity, with sweetness to the cherries, raspberries, and plums on the palate, vibrant, forward, red pit fruit filled wine is going to be delicious on release. The blends 88% Merlot, and 12% Cabernet Sauvignon. This is perfect for early drinking pleasure, yet it can be aged for more complexity as well.

Medium to deep garnet-purple in color, the 2023 Cap St George gallops out with energetic notes of stewed strawberries and boysenberries followed by hints of cinnamon stick, anise, and dried herbs. The medium-bodied palate is lifted by herbal accents, delivering lightly chewy tannins and a refreshing finish.

The 2023 Cap St George is a real success. Evoking aromas of violet, flowers and dark wild berries, it’s medium to full-bodied, enveloping and broad with a seamless texture and a long, ethereal but gently tannic finish, representing a success in a more flamboyant contemporary approach.
