Note di degustazione
The 2021 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru has a well-defined bouquet with cranberry, bergamot, black tea and light wet clay scents. There is something here reminiscent of a Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot, which is not written in any pejorative way, rather an observation. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, vibrant and fresh, lilting spicy red fruit with a touch of cracked black pepper towards the finish. Fine, if not top drawer. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2021 Grands Echézeaux Grand Cru is backward on the nose, opening gradually with a mixture of red and black fruit, iodine and pressed violet aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins, fleshier than the Echézeaux and definitely more complex. Silky smooth in texture, this fans out on the finish, pure and persistent. It is determined to put a distance between itself and the Echézeaux this year…and it does.
