The 2017 Chardonnay Thieriot Vineyard is airy, gracious and translucent. The heat of the year has softened some of the more angular contours this wine can show when young. In exchange, though, the 2017 will drink well right out of the gate.

This has a very attractively wound nose with stones and gently flinty notes, across grapefruit zest and lemon pith, in a fresh, upbeat, fragrant style. Some pastry and fresh bread-dough notes here, too. The palate has a very fresh and strikingly concentrated feel with acidity holding sway over ripe-pear and pastry flavors. Smoothly fleshy, supple and sustained. Drink or hold.
The 2017 Chardonnay B.A. Thieriot Vineyard has a delicate nose of agave, river stone, dried acacia, lime peel and white peach. Light to medium-bodied, the palate is savory with understated fruits, juicy acidity and a long, elegantly styled finish.
A little green streak on some cool-climate fruit. Seriously high acidity as well as obviously ripe fruit. I wouldn’t want to drink this yet. Though if you like young Chablis you might be ready to tackle this. (JR)
