The 2020 Raymond-Lafon has a straightforward bouquet with yellow raisin and light beeswax scents, although here I am seeking more in terms of fruit concentration. The palate is taut and fresh, with well-integrated oak and a keen line of acidity. The 2020 meliorates in the glass, though this example just needs to show more aromatics.

Tasted blind. Succulent, honeyed orange with a touch of apricot. Barley-sugar (a specific British hard candy) and broad. Viscous and deep. Could do with a touch more acidity. (JH)
The 2020 Raymond-Lafon has quite a deep, lucid color. The bouquet is quite pure, with notes of wild honey, quince and just a very slight adhesive scent in the background. The palate is well balanced with candied orange peel, a touch of nougat and toffee apple. This is perhaps not a long-term prospect, but there is pleasure to be found here. The pale to medium gold-colored 2020 Raymond-Lafon rolls seductively out of the glass with compelling scents of crystalized ginger, peach cobbler, persimmons and spice cake, plus suggestions of cinnamon toast and roasted almonds. The concentrated, impactful palate is nicely offset by a racy backbone and loads of exotic fruit and citrusy layers, finishing long and savory.
