The 2017 Prieurs de la Commanderie is dominated by wood on the nose and feels a little "animally". The palate is thankfully quite pliant on the entry and here the oak seems more integrated with the fruit, although it does lack complexity on the slightly dour finish.

Fresh bay leaves, tar and blue fruit come through in the nose, while the palate is medium-bodied and a little lean with herbal and spice undertones to the cool fruit. Drink after 2021.
