Mulberries, spring flowers, graphite, and tons of limestone-like minerality all emerge from the 2021 Château Joanin Bécot, a medium-bodied, fresh, focused Castillon that will benefit from 2-4 years in the cellar. This is another beautiful wine from this château that's well worth seeking out, and it will drink nicely for a decade.

The 2021 Joanin Bécot has an airy and well-defined bouquet with black cherries, bergamot and light cedar aromas. The oak here is nicely integrated. The palate is well-balanced with thick tannins and impressive fruit concentration, retaining ample delineation and freshness on a plush and satisfying finish. What a lovely 2021 Right Bank.
The 2021 Joanin-Bécot is quite pretty in its aromatics, but a bit firm on the palate. Crushed flowers, tobacco, spice and leather open first, but it’s hard to get past some of the angular contours that make the wine feel compact and unyielding.
Crafted by Juliette Bécot (from Beau-Séjour Bécot) and her team, the 2021 Joanin Bécot unveils its potential with a delightful, vibrant and dynamic profile, enriched with notes of cherries, dark wild berries, peonies and flowers. Medium to full-bodied, lively and gourmand, it’s seamless and supple with a vibrant, juicy core of fruit and an ethereal, saline finish. As usual, this overperforming estate from clay-limestone soils has produced a wine that punches above its weight, representing a significant and commendable achievement for a modest Castillon appellation.
