Moderately saturated light-medium red. Reticent aromas of red berries, black cherry, licorice and spices. Supple red and darker berry flavors are complicated by licorice, menthol and spice notes. Finishes with a firm dusting of tannins and decent length. Good solid village wine with a touch of sweetness.

The 2015 Chambolle Musigny Villages is a mix of white and red soils, whereas Leroux told me that it used to lean towards the former. There is a slight earthiness on the nose, fine definition if not quite the harmony of the Gevrey-Chambertin at the moment. The palate is ripe and generous on the entry, here more cohesion with red cherry, brown spices and a touch of citrus fruit on the well-defined and focused finish. This is one of Leroux's best village crus in the making.
(mostly vendange entier ; racked): Moderately saturated medium red. A sexy note of reduction to the aromas of raspberry, coffee, mocha and game. Lush but shapely on the palate, with silky red berry and spice flavors energized by lively minerality. Finishes with fine-grained tannins.
