Les Gruenchers is in the north of Chambolle-Musigny and Fourrier farms 0.29 hectares of the Premier Cru. It’s a deliciously sweet and bright wine in 2022. This is not the most dainty and floral Chambolle, but a firmer style that nevertheless comes with Fourrier’s trademark finesse. Muddled raspberries mingle with crushed chalk on the nose, the fruit developing darker tones on the palate. There’s a ripe core, pulled back from the verge of being overly sweet by that line of minerality that drives onto the finish.

More elegant and spicier aromas include those of poached plum, exotic tea, sandalwood and violet. The sleek, delicious and punchy medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality on the equally austere and noticeably more structured and complex finale. Domaine Fourrier is located in the village of Gevrey-Chambertin. The estate has been run by Jean-Marie Fourrier since 1994, and has rapidly become one of the village’s most fashionable names, known for producing pure and transparent Pinot Noir.
