Really quite exotic on the nose – some strange oak? Fluid and transparent on the palate with lots of easy fruit. Not a bad price! (JR)

(from the village portion of Beaux-Bruns): Healthy deep red. Restrained, slightly high-toned aromas of cherry, black raspberry and dark chocolate hint at a slightly roasted quality. Sweet, silky and very ripe; shows a juicy quality but also a suggestion of cooked fruits. Finishes with building, slightly tough tannins and good length.
The 2014 Chambolle Musigny Villages comes from two parcels in Derrière le Four and the village section of Beaux-Bruns. It has a more compelling bouquet than the Fixin Village with mint-tinged black fruit, even a suggestion of tobacco as it opens. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannin and bright red berry fruit that segues into quite a structured, Morey-like finish. Not bad at all.
