The 2014 Vosne-Romanée Village has an expressive, slightly earthy bouquet with cranberry and redcurrant aromas developing in the glass. I appreciate the delineation here for a village Cru. The palate is medium-bodied with just a little rusticity on the entry, moderate depth and showing a touch of austerity towards the finish. Hopefully this will flesh out with some bottle age.

(Nicolas Potel vinified this wine with a small percentage of whole clusters to prolong the fermentation): Medium red, a bit less saturated than most of these négociant wines. Attractive lift to the aromas of raspberry and rose petal. Fine-grained and light on its feet, showing lovely inner-mouth perfume to the flavors of raspberry, spices, violet and rose petal accented by fresh herbs. Finishes with firm, harmonious tannins and noteworthy verve. Should make an excellent village wine.
Hautes-Maizières and two vineyards in the south. Mid healthy crimson. Super-fruity. Round and easy but not the most typical Vosne. Could perhaps do with just a little more drive. (JR)
