Vegetal scent and surprisingly little weight at this stage. Pure and fine but on this showing no great credit to this high-ranking appellation. (JR)

Good full red. Subdued but nuanced aromas of dark fruits, gibier, espresso, smoke and underbrush. Smooth and seductive but less open today than the Chambertin (more often it's Clos de Beze that boasts more early sex appeal); intriguing smoky and flinty notes. Seems a bit more sharply delineated than the Chambertin and in need of several years of patience. Long, slow-building, firmly tannic finish.
