This is like smelling a bouquet of flowers with its perfumed nose of spicy red berries and exotic tea scents. There is again a lovely texture to the vibrant and supple but not especially dense flavors that display focused power on the dusty, moderately austere and impressively lingering finale. Despite not being a monster of concentration, it should age well on its balance.

Cask sample. Meaty note on the nose. Dark-cherry fruit, some plum character coming through. Structured. Needs time. Tannins are rather drying. Has a plushness on the palate which will develop and soften with a few years in bottle. Powerful but also quite restrained and has elegance underpinning the power. (AWH)
