These "Vieilles Vignes", from two plots in the north of the village, are over 100 years old – giving the wine particular intensity. In 2022, the Heresztyn-Mazzini team used 90% whole-bunch to balance the structure of the wine. It’s laden with generous, sweet red cherry fruit, ripe and concentrated, fleshing out a savoury framework of tannins that are present but not overpowering. There’s plenty of perfume from the whole-bunch, giving spicy and floral tones that complement the savoury intensity and sweet, dark fruit at the heart of the palate. Needs time to unfurl.

Once again the nose of pretty purple fruit and abundant floral elements is trimmed in soft wood. Here too the mouthfeel of the medium weight flavors is really quite attractive while offering slightly better detail and minerality on the sneaky long, balanced and lightly rustic finale. - "Outstanding"
Cask sample. Mid crimson. Attractive combination of fragrant dark fruits and a peppery stony quality. Dry, fine, linear tannins. Not as charming as some in this vintage but it's refined in its slightly lean style. Needs time. (JH)
80-90% whole bunch vinification. Medium deep crimson. Some density of ripe raspberry on the nose, and I am happy that I don’t see the hail effect though this sector was hit. Instead, Les Songes has a pretty concentrated dark red fruit with a seductive finish where the fruit is stronger than the tannic structure.
