Note di degustazione
This Premier Cru sits just below Mazis-Chambertin and Clos de Bèze, with Fourrier’s 0.67-hectare plot planted in the 1940s. The texture of this wine is instantly striking – supple and silken with gossamer tannins. It’s generous too, with dark bramble fruit mingling with sweeter strawberry, yet that fruit is reined in by a wash of savoury acidity and mouth-watering salinity on the palate, building to a smoke-scented finish. This will be hard to resist in its youth, but there’s a serious side that will be worth waiting for if you can show restraint.

Here the nose is moderately reduced though there is a lovely sense of verve suffusing the beautifully textured, plump and round medium-bodied flavors that possess a caressing, even succulent, mouthfeel before terminating in a slightly more austere, dusty and sneaky long finale. This balanced effort also needs to develop more depth but again, that should reasonably occur if given a chance. Drink 2029+
Fourrier's 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Cherbaudes reveals aromas of cherry preserve and ripe red plums, followed by a medium to full-bodied, supple and front-loaded palate that's laden with sweet, sun-kissed fruit.
Cask sample. Much more density and concentration. Focused, dark-cherry and berry fruit on the palate. Potential for this to be spectacular in a few years. Elegant tannins and sculpted oak to frame the whole. Good stuff! (AWH)
