A slightly more deeply pitched nose blends notes of wild red and dark currant with suggestions of earth and the sauvage. The succulent and decidedly rich flavors retain excellent punch and evident minerality while delivering solid length on the compact, firm, dusty and youthfully austere finale. The 2022 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a lively bouquet of brambly red fruit tinged with sous-bois and redcurrant pastilles. Quite delicate and nicely focused. The fresh palate is relatively spicy on the entry and very well balanced, with a little more intensity on the finish than expected. Yet, it retains wonderful composure.
Cask sample. Notable perfume on the nose and lots of crispness and drive on the palate. Lots of stems here? Elegant on the palate. Feels a very classy village Gevrey with bright red fruits, fine acidity and oak providing additional structure. (AWH)
