Bright ruby-red. Captivating violet and lavender lift to the aromas of black cherry, menthol and bitter chocolate. Juicy, energetic and sharply delineated, showing terrific thrust to its dark fruit, licorice and spice flavors. I would have picked this blind as a 2013. This will require at least several years of bottle aging.

The 2014 Nuits Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porets Saint-Georges had a strange bouquet, quite high-toned, perhaps a little volatile (unusual for this vintage). The palate is medium-bodied, a little chewy on the entry with a touch of bitterness on the finish. This is difficult to make out at the moment.
Mid crimson. A surprise to move to the Côte de Nuits and find such lively red fruit. Sweet red cherry on the palate but dry and fresh. Not much flesh but scented on the palate. Juicy and straightforward. (JH)
