Note di degustazione
(the last one of these 2014s that was still in tank): Bright ruby-red. Superripe, slightly high-toned aromas of dark cherry, raspberry and chocolate. Supple and ripe but dry; more backward than the Aux Cras and less open to inspection today. Also more oaky than the preceding wines; all of these wines age in 100% new oak but Liger-Belair uses 350-liter barrels for his village cuvées . Very ripe and broad, conveying an almost candied black cherry and ripe plum character as well as terrific mouth coverage without excess weight. Finishes very long, with a broad dusting of tannins.

The 2014 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru les Brûlées has quite a broody and introspective bouquet that demands encouragement from the glass: blackberry, wild hedgerow and undergrowth. The palate is medium-bodied with svelte tannin. This has good volume in the mouth, quite generous and smooth, perhaps a little more forward than the other premier crus with a caressing finish. Afford this several years in bottle.
Intense and rich on the nose. Sweet and silky impression aromatically. Very sumptuous on the nose and then a little tight and taut on the palate at the moment. (JR)
