Tasted at the Comte Liger-Belair vertical at the Château de Vosne. If the 2008 was a step up from the 2007, the 2009 Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru Les Brûlées is a step up from the 2008. There is a pastille-like purity on the nose, blood orange and tangerine notes, fine mineral tones emerging with continued aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with supple ripe tannin. There is still a touch of oak to be subsumed but it delivers a powerful finish that suits this premier cru. It needs another 4-5 years to be fully assimilated. Great potential. Tasted June 2015.

The 2009 Vosne-Romanée Aux Brulées is holding back much of its personality, which is a great sign for the future. Dark fruit, smoke, licorice and tar are some of the many notes that flow from this intense, powerful Vosne. Today the 2009 is pretty much closed in on itself. All the 2009 requires is patience.
