Note di degustazione
The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a seductive, plush nose laden with pure red cherries, cranberry and wild strawberry fruit. Nicely integrated new oak, quite luxurious in style. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins, crisp acidity (perhaps acidified?) with just a little shrillness towards the finish. It does improve with aeration and develops a pleasing harmony. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2018 red tasting.

The 2018 Charmes-Chambertin Grand Cru has a leafy bouquet that opens nicely with aeration, traces of black tea and white pepper. The palate is medium-bodied with fine tannins, quite structured with a slightly austere finish. Tapers just a little on the finish, which might be due to post-bottling discombobulation, hence the plus-sign against my score.
Not giving too much aromatically, a little backward at the moment. The palate shows good layers of fruit and rounded firm tannins, the oak is still integrating and it is a little introverted right now. Yet in 5–7 years this should come together, lots to admire. (AC)
