Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2020-2038, William Kelley, Wine Advocate, Apr 2020

Disgorged after more than a decade sur lattes with three grams per liter dosage, the 2000 Brut Liesse d'Harbonville is showing beautifully, offering up an expressive bouquet of fresh peach, citrus oil and green apple mingled with hints of freshly baked bread, toasted nuts, woodsmoke and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, deep and incisive, its elegantly fleshy core of fruit is built around a racy spine of acidity, complemented by a delicate pinpoint mousse. As usual, this is a Chardonnay-dominant blend that's vinified in barrel without malolactic fermentation.

The flagship Brut Liesse d'Harbonville is superb in 2000. Vinification in oak adds texture and depth, but what impresses most about the 2000 is its freshness at nearly 20 years of age. Lemon confit, chamomile, dried flowers, kirsch and lightly honeyed tones infuse the 2000 with layers of complexity and nuance as well as character. This is such a gorgeous wine. The 2000 is a wine of character, and also one of the finest Champagnes I can remember tasting here. In a word: terrific.

The 2000 Brut Millesime Liesse d'Harbonville, the domaine's flagship, is completely flatted by oak. The sweet oak flavors mask what could have been a wine of real pedigree. Disgorged: November 21, 2016.

Top of the range for this Ludes house. Barrique fermented, Chardonnay-dominated and no malolactic conversion. Lots of evolution on the nose, and the lightest of oak notes. Quite an open bead but with lots of nuance. Very atypical of champagne; hints of Meursault?! Certainly a very interesting wine. (JR)
