Punteggio 97/100 · Da bere 2024-2045, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Mar 2024

From what is effectively Abreu's headquarters at the base of Spring Mountain, the 2019 Madrona Ranch Proprietary Red is an impressively floral and nuanced offering. Intense impressions of sage join powerful Ribena notes, blending easily into black cherries and mocha shadings. Full-bodied, concentrated, rich and velvety, there's no trace of heat on the finish, just a whirling array of dark fruit and herbal complexities.

Coming from a site at the base of Spring Mountain, the 2019 Madrona Ranch is more medium to full-bodied and elegant, with an ultra-classic bouquet of assorted darker fruits, sage, leafy herbs, and sandalwood. I love its complexity, and it has power as well as elegance, followed by a gorgeous finish. It needs to be forgotten for 4-6 years and will cruise for over two decades.

The 2019 Madrona Ranch is flat-out stunning. Bright and intensely delineated, the 2019 dazzles with its brilliance. Red-toned fruit, mint, blood orange, spice and rose petal lend vibrancy. Madrona Ranch, usually quite the bruiser, is incredibly refined and nuanced in 2019, but that also seems to be a recent trend here, especially compared with the wines of a decade ago.

The 2019 Madrona Ranch is a stunning, complete wine. There's not much else to say. All the elements are so impeccably balanced. The depth and purity of the fruit is just mesmerizing. Today, the typical savory notes of Madrona ranch are not particularly expressive, while the tannins are similarly buried by the luxurious depth of the fruit. This is another super-promising wine from David Abreu and Brad Grimes.
