Note di degustazione
A cold and rainy year with a week of warm weather at the end of October, which helped the grapes to reach maturity. 100% Nerello Mascalese from vines 70–100 years old in Contrada Porcaria. Fermented in stainless steel; malolactic conversion took place in large oak casks in which the wine was subsequently aged for 18 months. A striking, exotic, almost rich nose of damson and raspberry with a suggestion of soy sauce, tamarind and with aeration an almost explosive minerality. Gorgeous lightness of touch and with exotic spiced red fruit and long, sandy, deep tannins. (WS)

The 2013 Contrada P is a red wine from Etna that promises long-term drinking appeal. The P stands for Porcaria and this vineyard consistently gives Andrea Franchetti some of his best results. This expression shows heightened fruit intensity with articulate aromas of wild berry and black currant, followed by balsam herb and grilled rosemary. As you should expect, those volcanic tones of ash and crushed stone also play a big role in forming the aromatic complexity of this wine. Some 2,300 bottles were made.
From a vineyard in the contrada of Procaria between 600-700 m. Mid violet ruby. Very compact and tight red fruit framed by fine, muscular tannins. Fluid and not ready by far. (WS)
