The 2019 La Tour de Bessan is a bold, pungent Margaux. Gravel, spice, licorice, leather, game and black pepper play off a core of dark blue/purplish fruit. This extroverted Margaux has a ton of character. It leans towards the burly side of things, that much is obvious, but there is plenty to like.
This is a bright, vivid red with cherry, currant and some raspberry character, as well as spices and citrus. It’s medium-bodied with firm tannins and a fresh finish. Shows energy and finesse at the same time. Drink in 2025 and onwards.
Full bottle just 1,246 g. From eco-conscious Marie-Laure Lurton. Bright mid crimson. Savoury, appetising and well judged. Not remotely sweet. Only medium weight and even a little dry (not sweet and not drying) on the finish. Correct. And very nicely balanced. The opposite of flashy. Fairly early maturing. (JR)
