The 2019 Château de Myrat fails to replicate its impressive showing just after bottling. It has quite an oaky nose and that masks the personality and terroir expression, at least at the moment. The palate is well-balanced with a viscous texture, rather oaky at the moment but it will assimilate with time. Maybe a bit generic compared to its peers but it should age well in bottle. Tasted blind at the Southwold annual tasting.

Tasted blind. More subtle and nuanced than most. Sweet and botrytised. Not the most intense but better than many. (JR)
Dried apricots, honeyed tropical fruit, flowers, and spice create the nose. But it is the sweet, as well as lifted, over-ripe, tropical fruit-filled palate, with its vanilla, honey, roasted nut, and candied orange nuance in the finish that seizes the day. Drink from 2022-2042.
The 2019 Château de Myrat has a slightly Germanic note on the nose, where hints of petrol infused the botrytized fruit. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. One of the more elegant Sauternes this vintage, delivering ample freshness and poise toward the finish. Refined.
