Punteggio 88/100 · Da bere 2028-2042, Neal Martin, Mar 2026

The 2022 Connetable de Talbot has a well defined nose, surprisingly "cool" and classical in style, with a light algae-like element that emerges with time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy black fruit, modest depth, cohering nicely towards the finish. This is a 2022 with a bit more character and it has better substance than it showed a year ago. Tasted blind at the Southwold tasting in London.

The 2022 Connetable Talbot has a pleasurable nose, perhaps a bit more fruité than it was out of barrel, with blueberry and light black cherry scents. The medium-bodied palate is classic in style, with slightly coarse tannins, a subtle acrid note and a strong tobacco finish. Lovely.

Unfussy, well balanced, soft tannins, brambled berry fruits, rosemary spice, no need to wait too long, less appellation typicty than in the main estate wine, but this is a lovely Left Bank wine.

This is a Cabernet-focused Connetable, with less Merlot in the blend that usual, and you'll find delicious spice, cloves and black pepper with blackberry, mint leaf and cocoa bean. A glow of warmth and grip on the finish, chalky tannins.
