Needing a full day to come around (just like the '07), the 2008 Donelan Syrah Richards Family Vineyard is easily one of the top one or two cool climate Syrahs produced in California. Showing a powerful, rich bouquet of smoky blackberry, game, lavender, pepper, and bacon fat, this thrilling Syrah is beautifully concentrated and layered, showing a silky texture, perfect balance, and beautifully integrated tannin that doesn't really emerge until the finish. Hide bottles in the cellar for 3-5 years, and then drink over the following two decades!
