Note di degustazione
The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru has a slightly tertiary nose. Dark berry fruit with touches of peat and loam open nicely in the glass. Maybe it just misses a little pedigree. The palate is medium-bodied with gritty tannins. Fresh acidity, almost citric, with a little brittleness towards the finish. It doesn't quite "flow" like the best in its class. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

The 2020 Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru, matured in 50% new oak, has a precocious bouquet with layers of opulent blackberry, cassis and redcurrant fruit, crushed violets bursting from the glass. This does not hold back. The palate is sweet and velvety smooth on the entry, fine tannins that frame the intense black cherry and cassis fruit with a judicious touch of spice towards the finish. Afford this 5-7 years in the cellar to tame its precocity.
