2014 Vosne Romanee Les Hautes Maizieres

(40% vendange entier ; 30% new oak): Bright, dark red. Sexy aromas of black raspberry, minerals, cocoa powder and exotic spices; this could only be Vosne-Romanée. Lush, sweet and soft on entry, then firmer in the middle; this reminded me a bit of a mini-Suchots, as it combines the power of this terroir with the fresh limestone lift of Chambolle. The tannins spread out to cover the palate on the spicy finish.
