Punteggio 94/100 · Da bere 2025-2041, Erin Larkin, Wine Advocate, Sep 2025

The 2016 Hillside Vineyard Grenache leads with tar and roasted meat, pomegranate, redcurrant and tapenade. On the palate, the wine is savory and silky, with a core of red fruit that abstains from sweetness but is pure, in its way. There are notes of autumn leaves, old leather, pomegranate molasses and licorice. This is moving into its second decade from harvest, and the wine has many more in front of it. 15.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork.

Punteggio 17/20 · Da bere 2022-2030, Jancis Robinson MW, May 2024

Tasted blind. Looks very mature. Shaded ruby/garnet. Plum-compote nose. Then an unusual palate that suggests melted liquorice. Sweet and very round with some floral notes. Flattering even if not the most refreshing. Quite a bit of alcohol on the not-that-long finish. Almost fizzy. (JR)

Punteggio 93/100 · Da bere 2022-2031, Josh Raynolds, Dec 2021

Bright-hued ruby. Ripe blackberry, cherry preserve and spice notes on the deeply perfumed, expansive nose. Broad and fleshy on entry, offering appealingly sweet red and dark berry liqueur, cola, vanilla and exotic spice flavors that are supported by a core of juicy acidity. Plays richness off of energy with a smooth hand and finishes very long and smoky, with resonating spice and berry qualities and velvety tannins that make a late appearance.
