Derived entirely from Grand Cru and Premier Cru vineyards, the 2015 Champagne Grand Terroirs Millésimé Brut is approximately 50% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, and the rest Meunier. In the glass, it displays a medium yellow color with a subtle golden hue and is expressive upon opening (the big brother of La Reserve, but they are pushing further with more strength and freshness, amplifying the La Reserve concept). It reveals more layers and ripeness with notes of lemon curd, juicy ripe peach or nectarines, floral perfume, and shortbread pastry. The palate expands with mouthwatering richness, layered with hints of salted hazelnut and brioche. This is a very successful and generous 2015. Disgorged in Feb 2022, with a dosage of 7 grams per liter. Drink from 2025 to 2045. Founded in 1947, Palmer & Co. are established wine growers, mainly in Premier and Grand Crus of the Montagne de Reims, producing around one million bottles annually, with 80% exported. While they also have some wines from the Côte de Blancs and other areas, they are considered specialists of northern Montagne de Reims. In the cellar, they primarily use stainless steel. They maintain three soleras: one for Chardonnay, nearly 40 years old from Trépail and Marmery, which is used for the liqueur in dosage; another for red wine aged 50 years; and a Pinot Noir solera for a special Blanc de Noirs blend. Barrels are used only for the soleras. They also have a winery dedicated to making their red wine, which ages in old barrels in the cellars for 7 months. They perform malolactic fermentation because of the grapes’ origin.

50% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, 12% Meunier. Created in 1947 by seven grower families with grand and premier cru vineyards in the Montagne de Reims. Produced from grand cru fruit (Mailly/Verzenay) together with seven premiers crus. Bottled June 2016. Dosage 7 g/l. A rich, powerful vintage wine proudly displaying its Montagne sourcing. 100% malolactic conversion, but there is still a strong underpinning acidity on show. I would be very happy to drink this. The 2015 Champagne Grand Terroirs boasts a rounded and layered nose and pours a medium yellow color. A blend coming of 50% Chardonnay, 38% Pinot Noir, and the rest Meunier from the Premier and Grand Cru terroirs of the Montagne de Reims, it opens to aromas of marzipan, tangerine, saline, and ripe peach. The palate is powerful and full, with a good deal of intensity, bright acidity, and a broad-shouldered feel. Offering a more savory profile, a peppery mousse, and a brothy, mouthwatering finish, it has the structure to mature slowly over the coming 8-10 years.
