Tasted blind. Rich, ripe nose. Then a little introvert on the palate. Quite marked tannins and a note of green on the end. One to cellar? (JR)

Lots of sappy red fruits, flowers, leather, and loamy earth notes all emerge from the 2021 Château Montviel, a medium-bodied, fresh, focused effort that has ripe tannins and a more complex, finesse-driven, elegant style. Drink this charming, balanced, enjoyable Pomerol over the coming decade.
The 2021 Montviel still comes across rather green on the nose—a bit undernourished. The palate is medium-bodied with light tannins, dark berry fruit laced with mocha and a dull, monotone finish.
The 2021 Montviel is a very pretty, open-knit Pomerol to drink now and over the next decade or so. Soft, plush contours wrap around a core of dark cherry/plum fruit, spice, cedar, new leather and dried rose petal. Understated and accessible, Montviel is quite expressive today.
