Punteggio 91/100 · Da bere 2018-2030, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Mar 2017

The 2014 Clos Manou, located in Saint Christoly-du-Médoc, was a little standoffish on the nose when I tasted it. However, it is certainly well defined with cedar and tobacco tinged black fruit; sous-bois and Earl Grey emerging with time. The palate is medium-bodied with crisp tannin, fine symmetry, a touch of spice with impressive precision and focus on the sustained finish. This is a superb Médoc that will give a decade, possibly more, of drinking pleasure.

The 2014 Clos Manou is dark and intense, but also shows an element of restraint that balances things out. Black cherry, plum, tobacco, spice and herbs all grace the palate in a super-expressive and delicious wine that shows just how appealing the 2014s of the northern Médoc can be. The blend is 52 % Merlot, 40 % Cabernet Sauvignon, 6 % Petit Verdot and 2 % Cabernet Franc.

The 2014 Clos Manou is ripe, racy and sensual to the core. Raspberry jam, flowers, mint and sweet spices are all laced together. Supple and forward, the 2014 will drink well right out of gate. The style is intense, mouthfilling and juicy. In 2014, the blend is 52% Merlot, 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 6% Petit Verdot and 2% Cabernet Franc. Look for Clos Manou to be another overachiever from the northern Médoc in 2014.

Clos Manou

Clos Manou is one of Bordeaux’s most under-rated addresses. The tiny estate is in the northern reaches of the Médoc, but produces wine that puts some Classed Growths to shame.
